Artist Statement
Huichuan Wang is an emerging Gen Z artist and creative technologist based in London, whose practice navigates the entanglement of geological time and computational time. Through a methodology she defines as "Techno-Craft," she explores how the granularity of the physical world can be preserved within the smoothness of the digital realm.
Bridging the disciplines of Visual Communication and Computational Arts, Huichuan’s research explores the symbiotic potential of human intuition and machine intelligence. Her recent body of work, such as ASYMPTOTE, exemplifies this by establishing a real-time feedback loop between AI generative models and traditional mineral pigments (iwaenogu). By synthesizing the "deep time" of geological materials with the "accelerated time" of neural networks, she constructs complex systems that question the boundaries between ancient craft and synthetic reality.
Huichuan has exhibited internationally at leading institutions, including the V&A Museum (London), the 14th Shanghai Biennale, the CAFA Museum (Beijing), and the X Museum. Beyond her studio practice, she is deeply engaged in academic dialogue, currently serving as a Programme Ambassador and Teaching Assistant at Goldsmiths, University of London, following her role as a Visiting Lecturer at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA).
Beyond individual creation, Huichuan is a dedicated organizer in the art community, fostering knowledge exchange through localized practices and cross-disciplinary workshops. She extends this capacity for dialogue into her broader practice, seeking to unravel the complex social and technological fabrics of our time.
